Makeup Artist & Beauty Content Creator
Mikayla Nogueira's career in beauty is 15 years in the making, as she was told beauty was her calling from the early age of 10. At the age of 15, she began "freelancing" to practice her skills. By 17, she entered DECA's young entrepreneurship competition for her beauty business, placing fourth in the state of Massachusetts and competing nationally.
After graduating from Bryant University in 2020 with her Communication, Media & Marketing degree, she was ready to turn her passion into a career.
Post grad, the fresh start catapulted her from her Masters Program in Massachusetts and beauty retail job, to dedicating all of her time to beauty content. What was meant to be fun clips of makeup tutorials on TikTok, the newest social media platform at the time, turned into a lucrative business for Mikayla, courtesy of her approachability and that unmistakable charm accented by her Boston pride. Three years since joining TikTok and 16 Million followers later, Mikayla has unapologetically invited fans and followers alike into her day-to-day life, with a level of vulnerability only she makes relatable. From make-up to mental health, Her followers relate and empathize with her as she pulls back the curtain on being an influencer, while showing off her incredible make-up skill. Career Advocate - Amica Center for Career Education
Career advocates play a crucial role in career development for Bryant University students. Working directly for the Amica Center for Career Education, which rated as one of the top career centers in the country. Responsibilities range from helping students to edit resumes or write a cover letter, to working with students to find and apply to internships or post graduation jobs that would suit them. It is our job to ensure students that they will be able to find a job or internship and we show them the various paths they can take to get there.
As a career advocate, I partake in successfully organizing and executing various career focused events on campus such as the career fairs, career workshops, mock interviews, resume rallies, networking events, and much more.
It has given me the opportunity to engage in professional development while also building relationships with career oriented individuals who have a deep understanding of how to be successful in ones future.

Level II CRLA Writing Consultant & Office Aid - Academic Center for Excellence
My passion for writing began when I was very young. I underestimated my writing abilities until 6th grade, when I was awarded the "best writer" award out of my entire class. I continued to win this award all the way up to my senior year of high school, where I won the "Most Valued English Student" award. I have been applying my writing skills as a Writing Consultant at the Bryant University Academic Center for Excellence. This has been a invigorating experience because it has allowed me to help mold many written pieces and witness various forms of writing by other students. I held students be successful through proof reading and fixing grammar. I also am able to give presentations to classes about how to be a successful writer in college.
I advanced to a Level II CRLA certified writing consultant in the Spring (2018) semester of my sophomore year at Bryant University.
Along with this, I was recently invited to serve as an Office Aid in the center. In this position, I am able to assist professional faculty and staff with various tasks. I also work directly with students to book appointments for them in the tutoring center with all of the tutors we have available to them.

IDEA Student Mentor
In my second year as an IDEA mentor, I had the opportunity to teach and mentor 25 students through an intensive 72-hour one-credit course at Bryant University. Throughout this course, students spent their time learning the design thinking process: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The topic for my cohort was healthy use of technology, and posed the question "how can we help people develop healthy and safe habits for technology use?" An interesting and relevant topic to say the least, but very challenging to take through the design thinking process. In a society where technology is becoming a way of life, the students spent hours contemplating how we can improve our real-life human connections. By the end of the course, the students showcased prototypes for solutions relating to the question. They were very successful in the process, and I was proud to be able to guide them through the journey.

Information Desk Manager
It has been an honor for me to work at the Information Desk at Bryant University. The individuals who hold this position are considered friendly and approachable individuals, who are also hard-working and willing to take on a variety of tasks. Similar to a traditional secretary, this job has allowed me to learn how to fax, copy, print, and do many other services on a large scale for the 3,000+ students who attend the university, university faculty, prospective students, and more. I had to be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite in order to compile financials to create financial statements, as well as budgets. We also do passport photos.
I was promoted to the Head of the Information Desk in May of 2018. In this position, I oversee the information center, hold staff meetings, conduct interviews for new potential staff, perform staff evaluations, and manage a variety of tasks to keep the center running smoothly. This has taught me leadership skills that I can apply in my future career.

IDEA Student Mentor
I had the honor of being an IDEA mentor at Bryant University. IDEA is the Innovation & Design Experience for All. This program is an intensive three day program completed by majority first year Bryant students. Students engage in the design thinking process: observation, ideation, rapid prototyping, user feedback, iteration, and implementation. They work in small teams where they are given a project to complete and then present to judges. For me, I mentored 25 students who were given the project of, "How do we make healthy eating more accessible?" We traveled to Whole Foods Market and observed our surroundings, as well as interviewed shoppers and workers. The five teams of my cohort designed unique projects, such as Healthy Fast Food stores, a mobile app, and a food delivery service for college students. IDEA was an incredible experience for me and something I will always remember because it taught me valuable knowledge and lessons.

Orientation Leader
This orientation leader experience was for the Orientation for the Bryant University class of 2022. This may be one of the best experiences I have ever had. It was an opportunity to demonstrate effective communication, leadership, empathy, creativity, organization, determination, and more. I worked with my fellow orientation leaders to create a team that was able to bring together the incoming class and make them feel welcomed and prepared to begin their first year in college.
We spent a month in intensive training learning about the Bryant community in great detail. During this time, we learned about all facets of Bryant such as financial aid, career services, admissions, diversity, tutoring services, residence life, and much more.
Then, we spent three weeks to help transition over 900 first year students into the community through small group interactive sessions, lecture presentations, and fun activities.

Digital Media, Communication & Radio Intern
The digital media internship at Townsquare Media was an amazing communication opportunity that allowed Mikayla to utilize her Bryant education. In this position, she collaborated on projects involving the brands social media, marketing, writing, radio, news, and more. She worked directly for FUN107 and WBSM radio stations. As a Fun 107 digital intern, she was also given the chance to report on area events, create online contests, connect to local venues, and interact with one of the best radio crews in the business. The most memorable moment of this internship was having the opportunity to produce and co-host on air radio shows. Mikayla used software such as Canva, Microsoft Office Suite, Video Editing Software, and various production and writing platforms. This role was essential during the time, as it was a dream of Mikayla's was to work in radio or television. While her path did not take that direction, she is still utilizing these skills in her current roles.

Shift Leader, Food Service Worker
While absent from Bryant University on winter or summer break, Mikayla spent her days at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. She wanted a fast-paced, fun job where she could apply her customer service skills. During this experience, she discovered not only how demanding it is to work in fast-food, but how much goes into each day. She became efficient in register service, drive-thru, line-cooking, food prep, food cleanliness, and more.
She also had the opportunity to take on a shift-leader role by opening the store at 6am every morning, as well as closing the store in the late evenings. The store needed to be orderly, prepared for opening, and employees needed to be advised on what to be doing during their shifts. It required her to count the cash drawer to check for accuracy and troubleshoot in times where the drawer may have been inaccurate.
She was also required to conduct interviews for potential incoming employees, call local food providers to order daily inventory, and pay close attention to customer service and satisfaction.

Retail Sales Associate
Mikayla's first job was at Journeys Shoes at the age of 16. This job was Mikayla's first experience in a Retail environment, which is where she realized she thoroughly enjoyed helping people and providing top tier customer service. It was also an introduction into the world of marketing and sales. Journey's had fierce and strategic sales goals for associates, which led Mikayla to build her competitive spirit and become the ideal associate. Also, Mikayla had an extremely knowledgable and encouraging manager, which taught her the importance of leadership. Still to this day, she takes the knowledge she learned from her manager and applies it to her current roles. Journeys also taught her about inventory, POS systems, cashier skills, stocking, merchandising, and more.
